MCAS Testing Results

During the 2004-2005 school year, McAuliffe Regional CPS reached an important landmark: the graduation of our first eighth grade class and in the process completed a full cycle of MCAS testing.

In the 8th grade class:

Much of this success can be attributed to the restructuring of the McAuliffe math program under the direction of the new, full-time Dean of Math and Science. The Flexible Grouping or Off Team program was designed to better ensure that each student would receive appropriate levels of support or challenge necessary to succeed in learning math and science effectively and efficiently.

Grade 6 math scores further mirror the success of the program, with McAuliffe student outperforming State, and District.

In the 6th grade class:

The seventh grade ELA scores showed significant reduction in numbers of McAuliffe students falling into the Warning category.

Terra Nova Testing Results

Terra Nova is a national standardized test administered to students annually. Scores are norm-referenced as a national percentile. This is useful for comparing the achievement of students in a local group with that of students in the nation as a whole.

In 2004-2005, our Terra Nova math scores increased by 3.2 points. Our state monitored goal is an increase of 2.0 points.

Terra Nova scores increased by 7.4 points for students in the Math Elective class. Language and reading scores also improved by 1.7 and 1.4 points, respectively.
