Enrichment Program

Course Offerings

These will vary from session to session. Registration forms will provide more information on this and will be sent home in Friday Folders the week of distribution. Copies will be available in the office and (when possible) online. We have offered many courses, with a somewhat different list each session. Here is a sampler of past courses that we have offered to our students.

History

The Enrichment Program had its official beginnings in the Fall of 2004. At that time the formerly named Framingham Community Charter School made the decision to schedule part of the music program rehearsals during after-school hours, which provided the opportunity to establish the Enrichment Program. It was founded to compliment the music program and to offer quality, cost effective middle school programs. Parents, community volunteers and hired instructors teach classes. All instructors receive instruction, training and support on classroom practices and behavioral issues. Instructors are also CORI checked. The Enrichment Program is established with the premise that students should have the opportunity to participate regardless of their financial situation.

Cost

The fees charged for each class financially support The Enrichment Program. These costs include instructor fees, materials and transportation costs for off campus programs. The charge for the Drama Group, run by the Performing Arts Center (PAC) is $143. If your student receives free or reduced lunch you may indicate this on the registration form and have the registration fee waived. In addition, scholarships are also available for those in need of assistance. Please contact the Enrichment Coordinator for more details.

Registration

Registration is required for ALL students wishing to participate in the Enrichment Program. Registration forms are sent out 2-3 weeks prior to the start of the program and are given a due date to enable the instructors to plan class lessons. Classes fill on a first come-first served basis. If payment is an issue, the registration should be sent and the parent/guardian should contact the enrichment coordinator to make payment arrangements. Checks should be made out to McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School. Due to curriculum and program limitations, class changes cannot be made after the second week of lessons and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. This includes new registrants as well as class chage requests. No refunds are available after the second week if the class is dropped by the student. Our Forms Library contains the current course list and registration materials.

Dates and Times

There are three sessions of Enrichment Programming: Fall, Winter and Spring. All sessions run 7-8 weeks in length. Registrations will be sent out 2-3 weeks prior to the beginning of each session. The Enrichment Programs meet on Thursday afternoons, after school from 1:30-2:30 and 2:30-3:30. The courses are offered to coincide with the band rehearsal TIMES. Band and Chorus rehearsal DATES will vary from the Enrichment Program schedule, therefore, please refer to the music program notices for specifics on these programs. Please note that Chorus after school rehearsals will be held on WEDNESDAYS (3:30- 4:30pm) and Band after school rehearsals will be held on THURSDAYS (1:30- 2:30 and 2:30-3:30pm).

Conduct

For the safety of all students, and with the exception of programs held off campus, students are expected to remain on campus until the completion of their enrichment/music programs (i.e. no trips to Dunkin Donuts between classes). It is expected that students attend class every week and that any absences/early dismissals should be communicated to the office with as much advance notice as possible. Parents/guardians will be contacted if a student is absent from class without prior notice. Please save us a phone call (and worry) by letting us know in advance of your student’s absence/early release.

As with all classes held at McAuliffe Regional CPS, respect for self, others and learning is expected from every student. The Enrichment Program, with school support, reserves the right to dismiss a student due to behavioral issues/misconduct. We ask for parent/guardian support to continue to reinforce the design principles essential to your student’s development.

Late Buses

Late buses pick up at the school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:30pm. Late Buses pick up at the school on Thursdays is 3:30pm. There are no late buses on Fridays.
