Drafting

Learn the basics of drafting while creating your dream bedroom! A step-by-step approach will be used to introduce students to the concept of drafting a scaled floor plan, using drafting instruments and basic architectural drawing techniques. Drafting tools and materials will be provided.

Glass Mosaics

Students will be introduced to the art of mosaics. Instruction is geared towards students who like to work with their hands. Students will create a colorful glass mosaic tile and small mosaic flower pot. Mosaic tile nippers will be used to cut stained glass pieces which will be glued onto the tiles and pots, and grout will be applied to finish the projects.

Art

Our very own art instructor, Tom Grady, will teach this hands-on program, exploring various mediums and allowing the budding artist or accomplished artist to shine! Fall session: Developing your own comic strip!

Chess Club

Come play! A popular course last year, chess club offers instruction to beginner and advanced players alike. The main idea is to enjoy the game, learn the basics - if you are new to the game, and advanced strategy- if you are a seasoned player. Rules of tournament play will also be covered.

Modern/Jazz Hip Hop

Students will learn modern/jazz, hip-hop and acro (jump) moves. This is a high-energy fun class that focuses on team building and individual dance goals. No experience is necessary. We will learn dance counts and beginning choreography, while developing an understanding for the flow of a dance class (warm ups, center work, moving across the floor, stretch, strengthen and balance). Students should wear jazz shoes or sneakers (not street shoes) and hair tied back away from face. Students will have the opportunity to perform a short dance routine for friends and family at the completion of the class.

Tile Mosaics

Students will be introduced to the art of broken tile mosaics. Instruction is geared towards students who like to work with their hands. Students will create a 12x12 tile mosaic mirror and a 6x12 mosaic name board. Mosaic tile nippers and hammers will be used to break tiles and old pottery into small pieces which will be glued onto plywood and grout will be applied to finish the projects.
