McAuliffe Regional CPS, an innovative charter public middle school located in Framingham MA is in search of their next Educational Leader.  This position is a full time position, starting in June of 2008. Job Summary


The principal is responsible for the total program of McAuliffe Regional Charter Public School, including activities that relate to teachers, pupils, parents, educational programs, supplies and equipment.  The Principal acts in an advisory capacity to the Executive Director in all matters pertaining to McAuliffe Regional CPS.  The Principal’s primary responsibility is in the improvement of instruction.  A majority of the time is spent on curriculum and staff development through both formal and informal activities, establishing clear lines of communication regarding school goals, accomplishments, practices and policies with parents and teachers.  The principal organizes and develops a school climate that promotes adequate discipline of students, rapport with teachers, and understanding of parents to the end of an excellent learning environment The duties and responsibilities of the Principal include concerns for leadership/curriculum; supervision/evaluation/improvement; public relations; organization; accountability; information; and contract administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

MANAGEMENT

Build effective routines, maintain students’ attention, utilize discipline procedures effectively, and develop momentum in teaching.

 

LEARNING EXPEDITIONS

Plan and implement two learning expeditions annually with compelling topics that result  in quality products that demonstrate the acquisition of standards-based skills and knowledge by each student and that utilize fieldwork and experts.

ACTIVE PEDAGOGY

Utilize effective practices each day that build curiosity and a sense of purpose among students.  Teach with clarity, assessing student understanding in order to revise instruction.

CULTURE AND CHARACTER

Model Design Principles and continuous personal and professional growth, convey high expectations for each student, and promote equity in and beyond the classroom by promoting a safe, respectful and orderly classroom and school community.  Involve families in their children’s education.

CREW

Serve as each Crew member’s advocate by promoting academic and personal growth.  Build cohesive group with culture of reflection, inclusiveness, and sensible risk-taking.
